Belles Put Pressure On Top Two

Saturday 13th May
Doncaster Rovers Belles 2-1 Aston Villa (Att: 457)

Goals from Kirsty Hanson and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk were enough to give Belles victory over Aston Villa in their final home game of the Spring Series.

Hanson finally opened the scoring after a positive opening spell for Donny, converting a cross from the right with a fierce strike that stung Chloe Beattie’s palms on the way in.

Sweetman-Kirk doubled the lead 20 minutes later, finishing from close range after Hanson did well to work an opening down the right once again.

Tasha Baptiste should have pulled one back past the stranded Nicky Davies put lobbed wide, before Beattie made a great save to deny Sweetman-Kirk.

Maddy Cusack pulled one back for Villa 12 minutes from time to set up a tense finish, in which Davies did well to keep out Mollie Rouse when she was through on the keeper.
