Bedford Ladies report that Peter Thornes, Manager & Head Coach, had two objectives for his team this season; one was to stay in the FA Premier League and the second was to retain the Bedfordshire Cup.
Peter and the team as they have managed to achieve both objectives, as the took on Offley & Stopsley in the Beds FA County Cup Final and won 9-3. As a bonus, Bedford have done a lot better in the league than anticipated, especially after a nervous start and have certainly shown that they deserve to be in the FAWPL.
Bedford prepared well today for their match against Offley & Stopsley and showed them the respect they deserved as the Beds & Herts League opposition did themselves proud in what turned out to be a skillful, competitive yet good humoured match. However, when Bedford were in full attack mode, they proved to be undefendable and ran out 9-3 winners.
Their were three quality goals coming from the prolific Tash Fensome, the captain also set up two for Ella Meadowcroft and one for Chelsea Hunter ,while Maisie Wyatt also hit the net. Offley were 5-0 at one point but then converted three chances in the last half hour.
Out of four attempts at this trophy, Bedford have been successful three times and that is a real achievement and something for which all at the Club are very proud.
Bedford have some very exciting players moving up to be real First Team contenders and to fill the gaps as they will inevitably lose players to University.
Trials for players to come and try out to join Bedford Ladies & Girls FC will take place every Monday and Thursday night throughout May.
