Claudia Pina extends Barcelona contract

Barcelona fans will be relieved after Claudia Pina put pen to paper on a new deal with the club.

The club confirmed the news on social media, with Pina pictured alongside club president Joan Laporta.

It is a positive move for the club who before the season had half of the squad on expiring contracts.

Pina had recently hinted she wanted to stay at Barcelona, telling reporters: “I feel very comfortable, with confidence. Playing for Barcelona is very easy because I’m surrounded by the best.

“The style of play suits me, helping me feel comfortable on the field. I’m happy and enjoying myself, which is the most important thing.”

Pina, has been one of the club’s best attacking players since returning from her loan at Sevilla at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Since 2021, she has scored 84 goals and provided 47 assists in 172 appearances across all competitions for the Catalan side.

Last season, she netted 24 goals in all competitions, including 10 in the Champions League where she finished as the top scorer.

The 24-year-old has continued her excellent scoring form this campaign, with 12 goals in 18 appearances.

Which Barcelona players are still out of contract next summer?

Pina has joined Cata Coll by signing a contract extension with Barcelona until 2029.

However, there are still seven players who are out of contract next summer, including club legend Alexia Putellas.

Putellas refused to rule out a Barcelona exit last month, despite snubbing an offer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Asked if she sees a future outside Barcelona, she said: “I don’t know. There are so many things in this life that may or may not be.

“I’ve always said that I’ll play for Barca as long as the club is interested in it and I feel that I can continue to push myself and squeeze every day to be better.”

Veteran forward Caroline Graham Hansen is also on an expiring deal, as is former Manchester United full-back Ona Batlle.

Defender Mapi Leon, Salma Paralluelo and Marta Torrejon are also on the list of players on expiring deals.
