Barcelona beat Olympique Lyonnais for the first time as they won the UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Bilbao.

The 50,000 crowd had to wait for over an hour for the breakthrough, Aitana Bonmati’s effort for Barcelona deflecting off Vanessa Gilles to give goalkeeper Christiane Endler no chance.

With time running out for Lyon, Amel Majri and Ada Hegerberg both failed to find the target from good opportunities.

Alexia Putellas was a late substitute for Barcelona and doubled the lead in stoppage-time, whipping a shot into the roof of the net.
