Atletico Madrid vs Manchester United

Fans are set to be treated to a European clash of the titans on Thursday night as Atletico Madrid go head to head against Manchester United.

Atletico have been in good form to start the season but as usual they have been left trailing in Liga F with Barcelona taking over at the top once again.

The Spaniards have a far from ideal preparation for their Champions League clash this week as they were stuffed 6-0 by Barcelona over the weekend.

However in their first European matchday Atletico did enjoy plenty of success. Víctor Martín’s team thrashed SKN St. Pölten 6-0 sending them joint top of the Champions League group stage alongside fierce rivals Barca.

Manchester United represent a completely different kind of prospect to Atletico’s previous opposition.

The Red Devils are still unbeaten in the league after six games and they have looked good to start the campaign.

After just scraping through Champions League qualifiers to start the year, Marc Skinner’s team kicked off their European campaign with a 1-0 win over Valerenga at home.

Thursday’s fixture will be the club’s first-ever Champions League fixture on the road and although they are marginally preferred, it certainly won’t be an easy task.

Manchester United team news

United have three injury concerns ahead of their Champions League clash with Leah Galton, Millie Turner and Celin Bizet Donnum all doubtful to play.

Galton featured for the final 10 minutes against Everton last weekend and could make her return to the lineup.

Bizet and Turner on the other hand are less likely to play with more serious concerns over their knocks.

Maya Le Tissier scored a historic goal for United in their Champions League debut and she will no doubt continue her incredible run of games as captain.
