Summer transfer window signings

European champions Arsenal have made some impressive signings during the summer transfer window.

Their biggest statement signing came when they broke the world record by making Olivia Smith the first £1 million player in women’s football.

Arsenal signed a second player from Liverpool, but Taylor Hinds arrived on a free transfer at the end of her contract.

Chloe Kelly was arguably the star of the summer for England as part of their Euro 2025 success.

She returns to Arsenal on a permanent deal, after a loan spell from Manchester City last season. Kelly had a falling out with Gareth Taylor, who was recently appointed as Liverpool manager.

German goalkeeper Anneke Borbe also joined the Gunners from German side VfL Wolfsburg.

Tottenham have been much quieter during the summer transfer window. Their only signing so far is Japanese defender Toka Koga from Feyenoord.

Arsenal vs Tottenham team news

Arsenal’s clash with Tottenham will be their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

The fixture was only announced on Wednesday, and will be their first game since they won the Champions League in May.

Leah Williamson will likely sit out the game after missing Arsenal’s training camp in Germany last week, as she recovers from a knee injury she sustained in the Euro 2025 final.

Kim Little, Lia Walti and Jessie Gale also missed the trip to Germany. Little and Gale have suffered minor knocks while Walti underwent a second abscess surgery following her health scare last season.

Beth Mead is available for Arsenal, though her future is in doubt.

London City Lionesses boss Jocelyn Precheur confirming the club’s interest in the Arsenal star in an interview with talkSPORT.

New Tottenham boss Martin Ho revealed that Ashleigh Neville, Maite Oroz and Olivia Holdt missed their pre-season opener at Sevilla with ‘illness’ and ‘small knocks. However, they have all been in training and will be hoping to feature against Arsenal.

Kit Graham has recovered from an ACL injury suffered in pre-season last year, but Ho will likely not rush the forward straight back into the starting XI.

Predicted lineups

Arsenal predicted XI: Van Domselaar; Fox, Wubben-Moy, Catley, Hinds; Cooney-Cross, Caldentey; Smith, Maanum, Kelly; Russo

Tottenham predicted XI: Kop; Grant, Bartrip, Koga, Nilden; Summanen, Ahtinen, Spence; Naz, England, Vinberg

Arsenal vs Tottenham pre-season prediction

Arsenal are one of the favourites to win this year’s Women’s Super League title, while Tottenham are hoping to push on from a disappointing 11th-place finish last season.

Martin Ho’s side already have one game under their belt this pre-season, while the Gunners will be playing their first game.

Therefore, the Gunners might not be at their fluent best when they play Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.

However, the Gunners have a stacked squad and should have enough to see off their north London rivals over the 90 minutes.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham
