Arsenal target Liverpool vice-captain Taylor Hinds in potential free transfer

Arsenal are interested in signing Liverpool vice-captain Taylor Hinds on a free transfer at the end of her contract this summer.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their side after winning the Champions League and finishing second in the Women’s Super League.

Liverpool, as reported by the Athletic, have presented Hinds with a strong contract offer. However, Hinds was a product of the Arsenal academy and a move to the European champions could be tempting.

Hinds, who has made over 100 appearances for Liverpool, is a versatile player who can operate in both full-back positions as well as midfield.

The 26-year-old represented England at youth level but opted to represent Jamaica at senior international level.

Taylor Hinds could be set for Arsenal return

Liverpool vice-captain Taylor Hinds was a product of the Arsenal academy and made one appearance for the European champions in 2017.

That appearance came during a 7-0 FA WSL Cup win over the London Bees

She left Arsenal for Everton in 2018, alongside Chloe Kelly, who is in talks over a permanent move to the Gunners after a successful loan stint from Manchester City in 2024-25.

Hinds switched to Everton’s Merseyside rivals Liverpool in 2020 and played a big part in their return to the WSL in 2022.

The Jamaican was made vice-captain in 2023 and made 22 appearances for Liverpool in the most recent WSL campaign, scoring two goals, as they finished seventh in the standings.

A move to Arsenal could be tempting given the fortunes of both sides at the moment. Arsenal are fresh off winning the Champions League, while Liverpool are yet to name a full-time manager to replace Matt Beard who left the club in March.

Hinds’ contract at Liverpool, which she signed in 2022, is set to expire on June 30th.

Liverpool’s upcoming free agent list

Arsenal target Taylor Hinds is not the only Liverpool player who could leave on a free this summer.

Japan international Fuka Nagano and Wales’ Ceri Holland are also approaching the end of their contracts.

Grace Fisk was also on an expiring contract but signed a new deal with Liverpool in April.

Hinds has become a big part of the Liverpool team and made her 100th appearance against Tottenham in April.

Before that game, interim head coach Amber Whiteley said: “Taylor’s been fantastic for us. She’s been so consistent and featured regularly in each season that she’s been here, and this season has been no different.

“She’s well-loved and respected in the dressing room and is a brilliant leader for us on the pitch.

“Huge credit to Taylor for hitting that milestone of 100 league appearances and hopefully there’ll be many more to come from her.”
