While the final would end with a tension of penalties, the first 10 minutes were quite dramatic too, with three goals scored early on.
Arsenal’s Wiktoria Kiszkis scored first, the Lionesses swiftly replied through Lucy Fitzgerald, with Kara Fordjour then giving them a 2-1 lead they held until half time.
The Gunners levelled for a second time 5 minutes after the interval through Lechante Paul, Emily Murphy then giving them the advantage at 3-2, before Onyi Echegini made it 3-3 to force the shoot-out.
Arsenal then profited 4-2 from the spot, with Ana Albuquerque scoring the winning penalty, to clinch the cup for a third successive season, having defeated Manchester United and Aston Villa in the previous two finals.
