SRUSA Women’s Soccer report from their recent Trial Game vs Northampton Town.
Thursday 4th August saw us take a team of signed players and trialists down to our friends at Northampton Town Ladies to take part in a trial game. We are lucky to have such a great relationship with George Joyce and Northampton Town Ladies who were lead well by GB Deaf Captain Claire Stancliffe.
As the girls for 2016 head out to begin their new lives as student athletes we have now started to turn our attention to the class of 2017 and 2018 as we had players ranging from 15 – 19 years of age. It was also great to Rosie Embley who leaves for America on Wednesday 10th August as she heads to North Georgia University to start her new life as a student athlete.
As always the game was played in a great spirit with all the players giving everything in the game. There certainly was a lot of quality on display with a large number of players from WSL teams and development set ups throughout the UK.
There were some great individual performances but for a group of players that have never played together before, they played really well as a team. Everyone communicating to each other and helping each other out really led to one of the most positive trial games that we have ever held.
For us it is all about giving the player the platform to perform to the best of their ability every time they come to one of our trial games or training camps. We want players to play with confidence and a freedom and this was certainly one of the strongest group of players we’ve had at one of our games.
The process of becoming a student athlete can certainly be a long road and that is why we always recommend giving a year to 18 months to get everything sorted. With this in mind if you are looking at coming to an upcoming trial day with us, please see the upcoming dates below.
Manchester Training Camp & Trial Day – Saturday 24th September at Accrington and Rossendale College
Northampton Trial Game – Tuesday 25th October at The Duston School, Duston, Northampton.
Our trial days do fill up fast so if you are interested in finding out more information please fill out an application form at www.sportsrecruitingusa.com and we will send you more information on our upcoming trial days.
I would like to finish by wishing our class of 2016 all the best as they start on their incredible journey of becoming student athletes. If they work hard in the classroom and on the soccer field, there is no limit to where they could end up.
