With voting shared among national team coaches/captains, media and fans, Morgan captured the award for the second time, having been recipient of the inaugural award in 2013.
Morgan finished level with Carli Lloyd as the USA’s joint-top scorer in 2016 on 17 goals, including five in the Olympic Qualifiers and two in the tournament itself at Rio. She also netted 4 goals in 15 games for the Orlando Pride in the NWSL.
US teammates Tobin Heath and new Chelsea signing Crystal Dunn were second and third respectively behind Morgan.
The Goalkeeper of the Year was declared as the USA’s Ashlyn Harris, with Costa Rica’s Amelia Valverde the Coach of the Year.
The first ever CONCACAF Outstanding Performance Award went to the Canadian Women’s National Team and Head Coach John Herdman, medalists at the 2016 Olympic Games.
