Rachel Rowe and Kaela McDonald-Nguah have collected the January 2023/24 Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month awards, supported by Park’s Motor Group.
Rowe wins the award for the first time having only joined Rangers in July. She becomes the third player from the club to have won this season following Kirsty Howat and Rio Hardy who won the September, October, and Novembers awards.
The Welsh international played a vital role for Rangers as they remain top of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League table and reached the 2023/24 Sky Sports Cup Final.
Rowe was selected as Player of the Match in their 3-2 win over Celtic in the Sky Sports Cup Semi-Final and scored both goals in their 2-1 win over Aberdeen.
Kaela McDonald-Nguah wins the SWPL 2 award after joining Gartcairn on loan from Motherwell. She was previously nominated for the SWPL award back in November 2022.
Since joining Gartcairn she has helped to turn their season around, having won just two points prior to her loan signing. Gartcairn are now sitting on 11 points having won all three of their matches in January and are now just three points from guaranteed safety.
McDonald-Nguah has not only provided SWPL experience but has chipped in with two goals, one in their 3-1 win over Glasgow Women and a spectacular solo goal in their 3-2 win over Queen’s Park. It was a finish that earned her a Goal of the Month nomination
The nominees for the January 2024 SWPL award were Jorian Baucom (Hibernian), Katie Lockwood (Heart of Midlothian), and Linzi Taylor (Partick Thistle) and for the SWPL 2 award were Monica Harty (Queen’s Park) and Georgie McTear (Kilmarnock).
