Humphrey made 23 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 3 goals and in 2016 went on loan to Doncaster Rovers Belles, where the young forward gained valuable WSL 1 experience.
A product of the Arsenal Ladies Centre of Excellence programme, Humphrey scored on her senior debut against Coventry in 2013, aged 16.
She joined Arsenal in 2006, progressing through the age groups and despite only being 20, the young forward has plenty of career highlights.
She has won the U-17 league and she also scored a hat-trick in the final of the FA Youth Cup, which her team won that year.
The following season, Humphrey followed those accolades up by winning the Development and FA Youth Cup double.
Her last appearance for Arsenal was against The Vixens in the final match of the Spring Series in June, where she was handed the captain’s armband as she replaced Jordan Nobbs.
At international level, Humphrey has represented England U-15s, U-16s, U-19s and most recently England U-20s, scoring her first goal for her country in 2012.
On joining the Vixens, the 20 year old explains her reasons for signing for Willie Kirk’s side.
“As soon as I heard City Women were interested, I didn’t hesitate in coming down here and meeting with Willie,” said Humphrey.
“The facilities are fantastic and I was encouraged by the vision of The Vixens. The club is coming back into WSL 1 and they are here to stay and push on. That willingness to grow as a club matches my ambition as a player and I can’t wait to get started here. I want to play regular football and develop, I believe this is the best place in order for me to do that.”
The Bristol City manager is delighted to have secured the services of another young talent.
He said “Carla is a player that can play anywhere across the front line, she brings to the club a number of strong attributes and the exciting thing for me is that there is still so much potential to unlock. I believe that she can play for the Lionesses in years to come.
“She has shown a real desire to join Bristol and her character is a good fit for the club. She is at a good age and she possesses a good attitude, which will certainly help her progress in the game and I will give her as much help and support along the way.
“Signing a player from Arsenal who has been there for 12 years gives you a certain guarantee about their education and knowledge of the game. We look forward to building on those high standards and good habits that she has picked up during her years there.”
