Nottingham Forest Women win League Cup, Hashtag Utd promoted

Nottingham Forest won the FA Women’s National League Cup, Wolves are right on their heels in the Northern Premier, while Hashtag United are up.

Nottingham Forest edged Watford with an extra-time goal in the 115th minute at Burton Albion FC. Gemma Davison’s second-minute corner flew straight in for Watford, Charlotte Greengrass levelled and Yasmin Mosby tapped home the rebound for Forest after Becky Anderson hit the bar. Davison struck the bar from a free-kick and Poppy Wilson headed in to force extra time. When Anderson played in Gianna Mitchell, she slotted home the decider.

Oxford United beat West Brom on penalties to lift the Reserves Cup. Katie Sherwood scored for United, Ellie McFarlane and Olivia Stubbs turned the game in the Baggies’ favour but Anais Harris-Beechers made it 2-2 in the 72nd minute. In the following shoot-out, Caitlin Crierie’s second save was decisive for the U’s.

Wolves defeated Burnley to go level on points with Northern Premier leaders Nottingham Forest with a game left each. Boldmere were relegated with a 5-2 loss at Liverpool Feds.

Portsmouth’s Southern Premier title hopes are over following a draw at MK Dons, London Bees are safe having won at Bridgwater United, who remain in the drop zone.

Peterborough United defeated Division 1 Midlands champions Stourbridge and stay in the hunt for runners-up with Doncaster Rovers Belles.

Newcastle United won 5-1 at Leeds United to move within three points of Division 1 North leaders Durham Cestria with a game in hand.

Division 1 South East champions are Hashtag United, whose 4-1 win at QPR took them out of the reach of AFC Wimbledon.

Cardiff City Ladies cut Exeter City’s lead in Division 1 South West to three points with a game in hand, getting the only goal at Swindon Town. Larkhall Athletic are relegated after a big defeat by AFC Bournemouth.
