It means more than ever on and off the pitch as the new Sports Direct Women’s Premiership will now offer record-breaking financial rewards.

The NI Football League have confirmed that total prize money available within the league will more than treble in value from the 2022 season, to become the most financially lucrative sporting competition in Northern Ireland for female clubs.

Gerard Lawlor, NIFL Chief Executive said; “We have reaffirmed our commitment by the substantial increase in prize money to participating clubs. It really does now mean more than ever, and we wish all the clubs the best for the start of the new campaign!”

The Sports Direct Women’s Premiership has increased to ten clubs this season, representing the top female football clubs in Northern Ireland and has contributed 14 international players to the most recent Northern Ireland senior women’s squad.

The new season starts this Sunday 23 April with reigning champions Cliftonville opening the defence of their title at home to Linfield, in the pick of the opening day fixtures.
