Regional Leagues Round-up: Bury AFC and Grimsby Town promoted

Bury and Grimsby Town sealed promotion to their respective Women’s Regional League Premier Divisions, Yaxley Phoenix lifted the Eastern League Plate.

EASTERN – Yaxley Phoenix win Plate Final

Premier – AFC Sudbury beat Haringey Borough 2-0 with Jessica Allen’s brace, to move four points clear. Royston Town substitute Poppy Smith scored twice in a 2-2 win at Bedford, Kings Lynn Town beat Bowers & Pitsea 5-2 away.

1 North – Fakenham Town returned from Newmarket Town with a point after a 1-1 draw.

1 South – Barking beat Billericay Town Devs 1-0 to get close to the title, Hutton are third after defeating Grays Athletic 3-1.

League Cup Final – Luton Town v Colney Heath was abandoned due to a serious injury.

League Plate Final – Yaxley Phoenix ran out 4-1 winners over Lawford.

EAST MIDLANDS – Grimsby Town going up

Premier – Champions Notts County won 2-1 at Chesterfield, allowing Lincoln United to go clear in second with a 5-1 defeat of Mansfield Town. Rotherham United won 2-0 at Arnold Eagles, Oughtibridge WM 3-1 at Basford United.

1 Central – Ilkeston Town are top by three points with three goals at Asfordby Amateurs. Notts County Devs drew 3-3 at home to Nottingham Trent University, whom they had led 2-0 at half-time.

1 North – Grimsby Town got the only goal against SJR Worksop to take the title.

1 South – Northampton Town Devs edged Dunton & Broughton United 1-0 to lead by five points, Kettering Town’s Mikaela Welford got the only goal against Thrapston Town, Peterborough United Devs put three past Loughborough Foxes Vixens

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Sutton in 7-7 draw with leaders Ebbsfleet 

Premier – Sutton United fought back from 6-3 down for a remarkable 7-7 draw with leaders Ebbsfleet United, Lily Dent getting three of their goals. Worthing gained ground when beating Fulham 2-0, Millwall Lionesses defeated Dartford 3-2 away with Otesha Charles’ double. Dulwich Hamlet beat AFC Acorns 3-0 in front of 339, Enfield Town sank New London Lionesses 7-0 aided by a Katie O’Leary hat-trick.

1 North – Hackney climbed off the bottom with a fine 2-1 victory at leaders Clapton, substitute Kea Felix with the decider in front of 243. There were 1,124 watching Brentford beat Richmond Park 4-1, Chloe Logie’s treble helping them pile pressure on the top team. Denham United defeated Sport London E Benfica 5-2 away Whyteleafe were 2-1 winners at Watford Development.

1 South – Ashford United won 8-2 at Montpelier Villa to stay top, Hastings United remained on their heels with Sian Heather’s hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Steyning Town. Welling United won 3-0 at Bromley, Herne Bay netted nine against Maidstone United with three each for Lauren Harris and Erin MacLennan. There were 2-1 victories for Eastbourne United over Bexhill United and Newhaven at Cray Valley.

NORTH EAST – Spennymoor go top

Premier – Alnwick Town ended champions Chester le Street Town’s perfect form with a defeat following the dismissal of Shannon Etherington. Wakefield walloped Blyth Town 14-1 with five from Neve Renwick, South Shields  saw off Wallsend BC 2-1 with Eve Gatens’ 90th-minute goal, Lauren Tate’s double gave Hull United a 2-2 tie with Redcar Town.

1 North – Spennymoor Town hit hosts Thornaby for six to go top, substitutes got winners as Alanah Scott put Gateshead 3-2 up at Washington and Francesca Lambert gave Chester le Street United a 2-1 advantage at West Allotment Celtic.

1 South – Five fixtures produced 41 goals led by Barnsley FC Ladies’ 11-2 result over Harworth Colliery, as Lynn Goodman got five. Bradford Park Avenue’s Melissa West scored three in the 4-4 draw with Farsley Celtic Ladies, whose Sarah Lawn also grabbed a treble despite Kimberley Clydesdale’s red card. Handsworth recorded a 7-4 score at Sheffield Wednesday, Millmoor’s Alesha Gale and Abby Watkinson got two apiece for a 4-2 win at Sheffield United Foundation. Ripon City defeated Altofts 2-1, while Ossett United had a walkover against York Railway Institute.

NORTH WEST – Bury promoted

Premier – Blackburn CSC beat West Didsbury & Chorlton 3-1 to leapfrog them into eighth place.

1 North – Haslingden finished their fixtures with an eleven-point lead after winning 4-1 at Penwortham Town, Preston North End – one of the teams who can still catch them – edged Workington Reds 4-3, while Bolton Wanderers won 5-0 at Chorley Devs.

1 South – Bury AFC are champions after a 3-0 success at Poulton Vics, Runcorn Linnets runners-up having let a 5-1 lead slip to draw 5-5 at Warrington Wolves. Chester won 2-0 at Northwich Vixens, likewise Hindley over Alder.

Argyle Sports Kit Cup Semi-Finals – Cheadle Town Stingers defeated Fleetwood Town Wrens 3-1, Curzon Ashton came through 4-1 at Salford City Lionesses.

Argyle Sports Kit Plate Semi-Finals – Darwen eliminated Blackpool 3-0, who had Alice Earnshaw sent-off before the hour mark. FC United of Manchester netted a dozen against Wythenshawe Amateurs, with four for Ashleigh Hayes and three from sub Olivia Dixon.

SOUTHERN – Woodley win semi-final shoot-out

Premier – Eastleigh ended in fifth spot after going down 4-2 at home to bottom of the tale Winchester City Flyers

Chairman’s Cup Semi-Finals – Woodley United won through 3-0 on penalties, after a 1-1 deadlock with Woking,  whose Roz Markham saw red. Gemma Sims gave Woodley a 79th-minute lead, Sheena Nichol quickly equalised.

SOUTH WEST – Paulton progress on pens 

1 East – AEK Boco hit Stockwood Wanderers 6-1 to go second, Zara Hunt’s goal for Weymouth meant they were the first team to hold champions Pucklechurch Sports.

Premier League Cup Quarter-Final – Poole Town edged the nine-goal thriller at Forest Green Rovers, where Katie Marshallsay scored twice.

Divisional Cup Quarter-Finals – Paulton Rovers progressed 4-2 on penalties after it ended 0-0 at Bideford, SGS Olveston United won 3-0 at Middlezoy.

WEST MIDLANDS – Seven up for Sutton Coldfield 

Premier – Leaders Sutton Coldfield Town scored seven at Lichfield City with three by Aimee Taylor, Kidderminster Harriers won 2-1 at Lye Town whose Chelsea Tague was dismissed. Worcester City sank Solihull Sporting 6-2 aided by Georgia Marrett’s hat-trick, Coundon Court won 2-0 at Redditch United.

1 North – Second-placed Walsall Wood were held 1-1 by Coventry City, Macy Isherwood’s late goal saw Port Vale 2-1 victors over third-placed AFC Telford United, Tamworth won 2-0 against Walsall FC.

1 South – Demi-Lee Rolph got the only goal as Knowle defeated Leamington Lions, Sedgley & Gornal United won 2-0 at Long Itchington to move level on points with them.
