Scottish Women’s Premier League: Hearts hold Rangers

Glasgow City extended their lead in Scottish Women’s Premier League as Celtic overtook Rangers who drew at Hearts.

Glasgow City are six points clear from a game more than their title rivals, after an 8-1 win at Dundee United. Danni McGinley had pulled a goal back for the home side at 3-1 but​​​​​​ Erin Greening’s hat-trick and a late Lisa Forrest brace helped City coast home.

Celtic also netted eight at Glasgow Women, Amy Gallacher stepping up with four goals after the Hoops lost top scorer Clarissa Larisey to BK Hacken.

Fourth-placed Hearts took points off Rangers for the first time, as Kirsty Howat was twice thwarted by keeper Charlotte Parker-Smith.

Hibernian’s Shannon McGregor gave them a 65th-minute breakthrough at Motherwell, where Katie Lockwood sealed the points late on.

Aberdeen are out of the relegation play-off spot at the expense off  Hamilton, whom they defeated with goals from Hannah Stewart and Bayley Hutchison.

Partick Thistle beat Spartans, as first-half efforts by Cara Henderson and Rachel Donaldson were added to with Abbie Ferguson’s goals in the dying minutes.

Kilmarnock 3-1 St.Johnstone
Queen’s Park 2-1 East Fife

There were no wins in the top three, as leaders Gartairn were held at home by Stirling University, Boroughmuir Thistle beat Montrose and Kilmarnock defeated St.Johnstone.

Stirling University were two up at half-time through Ann Taylor and Emma Lyons’ penalty, Ami Robertson’s spot-kick and Abby Skelton’s equaliser rescuing a point.

Boroughmuir’s  Courtney McAvoy hit a hat-trick, as they twice came from behind to beat Montrose.
