Nottingham Forest are still urgently seeking a sponsor, especially in light of NFFC’s decision not to support the club this season.
In response to various public and club enquiries, Nottingham Forest Ladies Football Club would like to make the following statement.
Nottingham Forest Ladies Football Club is still urgently seeking sponsorship for the 2013/14 season and beyond. As the current financial position stands, the club has a week to find significant funding or will unfortunately need to fold as operational bills need to be paid.
It was confirmed on Tuesday 1st October 2013 by a spokesperson from Nottingham Forest Football Club that NFFC will not be financially supporting Nottingham Forest Ladies Football Club for the current season, or providing them with any club playing kit that had been ordered in November 2012. When NFFC were asked why they would not support Forest Ladies in the immediate term, they confirmed that they plan to put together a financially sustainable model for the future and if it means the current club folding and NFFC starting from the beginning, then so be it.
Nottingham Forest Ladies FC would like to put on record that at no stage of the negotiations with Nottingham Forest FC this year did they refuse to become formally part of the club or refuse any type of offer from NFFC, as this is something that they have been striving for for many years and would welcome. In fact Nottingham Forest Ladies FC have offered NFFC the opportunity to fully take over the running of the club should they wish to invest heavily and would therefore be able to have full financial control.
Nottingham Forest Ladies Football Club is very disappointed with the decision that has been taken by the men’s club, particularly at a time when other big clubs across the country are embracing their respective women’s team. Forest Ladies acknowledge that NFFC are not obliged to finance Forest Ladies and we will continue to work hard to generate enough income to continue the current season, particularly at a time when the First Team are the only unbeaten team in the Women’s Premier League.
We would like to thank NFFC for their kind donations over the past 5 years and hope that we are able to find alternative sponsorship to financially sustain ourselves over the next 8 months.
