Jacquie Agnew has been appointed to the Lewes FC Board of Directors, taking effect on 25th October but she will remain in charge of the Lewes Ladies side.
The saying ‘ask not what your club can do for you but what you can do for your club’ pretty much sums up how I have felt about Lewes FC since I got involved back in 2002. I have seen many changes in that time, some good, some not so good, but whatever the situation, the club has always been bigger than any person and for me that’s a good place to start.
I have ten years experience as the Manager of Lewes Ladies FC and over 20 years in the corporate world and like most things, there are many skills which are transferable. I think it’s important to have a good mix of people running a Football Club simply because it gives the club depth and breadth in terms of the skills required. Community ownership has been in my opinion one of the best things to happen to Lewes FC because it brings long term sustainability and a feeling of belonging for its fans. Being accessible to its players, staff and directors is something that I have always really enjoyed and appreciated.
I wanted to get even more involved because I believe in the values and direction the club wants to go in. I would like to see Lewes FC at the heart of the town and the £6m regeneration SYNC project is something that I am very excited about and I would like to help the club drive that agenda, so that in 2016 we have a state of the art ground.
As the Ladies Manager, I am passionate about football and since 2002 I have been fortunate to have won seven trophies. This is down to hard work, mostly good decisions and bringing in people who want to do well for the team.
Success on the field is top of the list for all our teams and working with the managers and their staff is very important to me as a football person. I believe that there are many aspects that the teams can share with each other in terms of best practice and pooling resources. I would like to actively promote all the teams and strengthen our brand as a club.
