David Mills/ Chairman/ Yeovil Town LFC

Yeovil Town’s position as one of the top 18 teams in the country has been confirmed with the completion of the required 76 page Licence to become a member of the FA WSL.

The announcement earlier this year that we were one of the teams to be offered a chance to be in the expanded FA WSL was just the start of the hard work. Since then there has been an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to get to the stage where we were able to complete the FA WSL Licence.

I would particularly like to thank Stephen Allinson, Sarah Lawler, Chris White and everyone at both Yeovil Town FC and Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust as without their support and hard work over the last few weeks, the signing of this licence – the most important document in the Club’s History – would not have been possible.

Yeovil will play their first game in the newly created FA WSL 2 division next March where they take on clubs including Aston Villa, Sunderland, Watford and a dynamic new team, Durham WFC. The Glovers main ground will be Sherborne Town FC’s Raleigh Grove, which is undergoing a number of changes to bring it up to the standards set out for FA WSL 2 clubs.

Obviously it is a very exciting time for the club, but there is still a lot of work to be done to make sure we ready for the big kick off. However we are lucky to have a tremendous collection of volunteers, players, coaches, sponsors and fans who are determined to make Yeovil Town ladies FC a big hit in the FA WSL. Just six years ago we were playing in the South West League and now we are one of the top 18 clubs in England. That fact alone underlines the culture we have at the club for constant improvement.

Stephen Allinson, who along with David Mills, Chris White and Sarah Lawler, will be the inaugural Directors of the Club said: “I am delighted both as a Director of Yeovil Town Football Club and as the recently elected Chairman of the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, to be associated with our a Ladies Football Club. The obtaining of the Super League licence is a fantastic achievement and the Ladies team is a vital part of the overall Yeovil Town Sports brand.”
