She Kicks Back – Jenna Kiely (Thrapston Town LFC)

Jenna Kiely, who set up the ladies’ side at Kettering Futsal Club, was one of 150 volunteers to be invited to Buckingham Palace as part of the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

1. Name: Jenna Kiely

2. Age (D.O.B):  19. 12/02/1994

3. Team: Thrapston Town Ladies FC

4. Position (and have you always played there)? Centre Midfield, played everywhere but CM has become my main role in the last year.

5. Team Supporter/Fave player? Arsenal / Steven Gerrard.

6. Occupation/or what you are studying? Studying Sport performance and coaching / part time work at Waitrose

7. Are there other footballers in your family? Older brother Andrew, Cousins and Uncle.

8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)? When we drew 2-2 against Corby S&L, We was losing 2-1 with only minutes to go when Alice Smyth played a shot/cross into the box and it somehow went in. In this game I was in goal, so once Alice scored I ran the whole of the pitch to celebrate with the girls. This result help us to keep our unbeaten run going, which we kept till the end of the season to win the league.

9. Your best attribute as a player? The team would say moaning, as I do it a lot on and off the pitch but probably passing, as I can’t shoot.

10. What are your ambitions in football? To become a professional coach in women’s football and also get more ladies/girls playing futsal along with football.

11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your footballing career? My dad, Vicky Black and assistant manager Andy Pendred

12. What is the best thing about playing for your team? The banter – we all get on so well and we all like having a laugh.

13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like? Don’t think I would, this is the first kit I have liked for ages.

14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks? No, I like to watch TV before or look on twitter etc.

15. Who, that plays for your team, should we know more about and why?  It has to be Millie Boddington – we had a quiz night the other week and she was literally coming out with football facts from the 70s!
