Beth Mead has won the 2022 BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award, the eighth time the honour has been presented.
The Arsenal and England star came out on top in the public vote, after a media panel had also shortlisted Chelsea’s Sam Kerr, Wolfsburg’s Alexandra Popp, Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas and Lyon’s Wendie Renard.
Ellen White, an England teammate of Mead’s until recently, made the surprise presentation at the Gunners’ training ground.
It was a third such accolade for a Lionesses player, Lucy Bronze having won it twice before.
