Women’s Regional League highlights from Sunday 23 October include a red card for a hat-trick hero and some serious goalfests.
EASTERN – Four games, 37 goals
1 South – There were just four games throughout the league due to FA Cup commitments but a massive 37 goals scored. Nearly half that was down to Barking’s rugby-like scoreline of 14-3 against Lawford, for their fourth win from four. Billericay Town Development drew 4-4 with Cheshunt having trailed 3-1 at the break, East Bergholt United beat Grays Athletic 6-1 aided by a Jade Horne hat-trick, while Hutton won 4-1 at AFC Sudbury Reserves.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Benfica and Brentford share the points
Premier – Saltdean United went fifth in the table by beating New London Lionesses 6-1, as Naomi Robinson set them on their way with a brace in the first half-hour.
1 North – Sport London E Benfica and Brentford are fourth and third respectively after a 1-1 draw, in which Kimberly Castro scored for the hosts and Chloe Logie for the visitors.
1 South – Bromley missed the chance to go level on points with leaders Ashford United when held 0-0 at Newhaven. Bexhill United did go level on points with eighth-placed Montpelier Villa after defeating them 3-0.
NORTH EAST – Chester le Street United go top
1 North – Chester le Street United’s Holly Doogan and Jade Fenton got the goals as they won 2-1 at Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, to replace them in pole position. Wallsend BC Reserves went second with a 3-0 win over West Allotment Celtic, Thornaby’s Sophie Curle struck four first-half goals in the 4-0 win over Washington. Gateshead rose above Hartlepool United on goal-difference following a 2-1 away win against them, Hartlepool Pools Youth but Guisborough Town 6-1 and Spennymoor Town had a 5-2 victory over Bishop Auckland who had Natalie Wild sent off on 50 minutes.

1 South – Handsworth held the leadership by beating Harworth Colliery 3-0, York Railway Institute’s 4-0 result over Bradford Park Avenue was their fourth straight win, Millmoor ran out 8-3 winners at Sheffield Wednesday.
NORTH WEST – Morecambe off the mark in style
1 North – Haslingden held a three-point advantage over Blackpool at the top, defeating Chorley Development 2-0 while the Seasiders saw off Sir Tom Finney 5-1. Morecambe got off the mark in stunning fashion, 7-3 away to third-placed Penwortham Town.
SOUTHERN – Caversham end leaders winning start
1 North – Caversham United were the first to take points of leaders Milton United in a 2-2 away draw. Freya Jenkins came off the bench to score twice, Charlotte Comley and April England having found the net for the home side.
1 South – Chichester City’s 5-0 defeat of Selsey Development lifted them into first place on goal-difference, but having played three more games than Badshot Lea.
SOUTH WEST – Hat-trick and red card for Budleigh’s Narramore
Premier – Sherborne Town opened up a three-point lead at the top, Becky Narramore notching a treble in the 4-0 defeat of Ilminster Town.
1 West – Budleigh Salterton’s 6-2 success against Activate featured an eventful day for Jodie Millett, who claimed a first-half hat-trick before being dismissed at the death.
WEST MIDLANDS – Walsall Wood stage second-half comeback
Premier – Kidderminster Harriers limbed to third with a 4-0 defeat of Coundon Court, Crusaders came away from Redditch United 3-0 victors.
1 North – Walsall Ladies rose to the summit with a 3-0 result over City of Stoke, Walsall Wood moved up to second when fighting back from a 3-1 half-time deficit to defeat Tamworth 5-3, aided by a Natasha Baptiste brace.
1 South – A bizarrely high-scoring encounter ended with Bewdley Town beating Droitwich Spa 10-5, Kirsty Roberts getting a five-goal haul for the victors.
