ROAD TO EUROPE with Cardiff Met LFC

Are you just starting pre-season and feeling the pain? Spare a thought for the Cardiff Met girls who are doing it serious stylee as they prepare for UWCL action in August…

Every week or so, if she has the energy, will, or time in between training to leave her bed or recovery ice bath we’ll be getting update from Robby P, No.3.

Take it away Robby:

SKI ERGS WILL BE THE DEATH OF US… as well as the only thing we’ll be pulling this summer. And the only parties we shall be attending are our own individual pity parties.

So far,  2 weeks in, I would have to say that Wednesday’s pool recovery is my favourite session of the week. If we’re to make a ‘splash’ in Europe like we intend to then we realise that recovery is key in our preparation. (I’m sure we will come out of this tournament with a degree in downing protein shakes and a PhD in foam rolling.)

Being the sensible, tee-total university students that we are it is not surprising that being placed on a drinking ban is unnecessary, however if we did like the odd tipple on a weekend – after 16 hours of strength and conditioning mixed with technical sessions Monday-Thursday, I’m sure lifting a pint glass would feel like a weights session in itself.

It’s fair to say that after a month off, this preseason has come as a shock to the system for most of us but the work ethic and commitment by all the girls so far has been fantastic and surprisingly moaning is at an all time low. Sunday night’s team meetings followed by TOWIE reminded us that the only way is up and that the albinos in the team must start sun bedding if we don’t want to get burnt in Portugal.

Things to note so far:

  •         No signs of 6 packs yet
  •        Kerry Harris’ bob should be the eighth wonder of the world (see below)
  •         Ice baths are cold
  •         These hamstrings ain’t loyal!

NEXT UPDATE, coming soon.

Robby P, number 3
