Wee Kick – South Park Rangers Girls FC

Millie Bell tells us all about SPR and their treble-winning season which saw them go unbeaten but for the opening game.

What is your team name? South Park Rangers Girls

Do you play 5, 6, 7 or 11 aside? 11 aside

Does the team have a nickname, if so, what is it? Yeah, its SPR

What colours do you play in? Red and Blue

What is your teacher’s/coach’s name? We have three which are James Simpson, Gary Walker and Neil Dawson

Do they have any funny sayings or things they do a lot? Our coaches have a saying “play likes its 0-0 girls”.

What are the names of the girls on the team? We have a squad of 18 and this includes Abbie Marshall, Kyra Watson, Aimee Stabler, Amy Simpson, Caprice Larsen, Charlotte Jones, Chloe Biggs, Connie Smith, Ellie Walker, Emily Connor, Emily Dawson, Harriet Dryden, Kirby Cranney, Lauren Farrow, Neve Craig, Shauna Kelly and Bex Thrush as well as myself.

Are there any ‘stars’ we should know about and why? I believe that everyone is a star in their own way everyone has a different role to play in the team which makes us work as a unit.

Do you have a team song that you sing or a song that a lot of your team like? Nope, not really, we just sing whatever comes to our minds

When do you train/practice and when do you play your games? We train once a week on a Thursday on our home ground at Smiths Dock Park and we play there on a Saturday.

What league/cup do you play in and do you have to travel far for your matches? We play in the Russell Fosters Girls League as well as the County Cup which is played within Cleveland. However, our league is situated within Newcastle, so it can be quite long journeys to get to away games. This season [2013-14] we have been very successful with only losing one game in all competitions and because of this we won the League, League Cup and the County Cup.

Who is the LOUDEST on the team? I would have to say I have been told on several occasions that I’m the loudest.

Have you been to watch any senior women’s league, cup or international matches? If so, which and when? No but we have had the chance to watch Middlesbrough Ladies FC when they have been playing at home.

Who are the team’s favourite players and why? Some players on the team are in love with Fabregas, however, for others such as myself it would have to be Ramos.

Why should readers check out news/results for your team? I believe that they should check our scores as after losing our first game of the season, they wouldn’t believe that we’d be unbeaten after that, winning all competitions and also we win with such big scorelines.
