World Cup Ticket Sales Make Strong Start

After only 48 hours of ticket sales, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ has already surpassed 150,000 spectators through the sale of Stadium Passports, Stadium Half Passes, and individual tickets to the Final Match.

“All Canadians have an opportunity to be a part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ from coast to coast across our country,” said Peter Montopoli, Chief Executive Officer for the National Organising Committee. “There has been terrific momentum leading up to our on-sale date, so it is great to see how Canadians have really embraced the competition through the purchase of Stadium Passports, Stadium Half Passes and tickets to the Final Match.”

In this first phase of ticket sales, fans can purchase Stadium Passports or Stadium Half Passes. Stadium Passports include tickets for every match day at a stadium while Stadium Half Passes include a fixed set of tickets for half the matches at the selected stadium. Stadium Passports are available in all six host cities while Stadium Half Passes are available in Vancouver, Edmonton and Montréal.

The Final Match, meanwhile, is available to those who purchase a Stadium Passport or Stadium Half Pass in any host city. As a testament to the truly coast-to-coast interest in the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, tickets to the 5 July Final Match in Vancouver has already been purchased in conjunction with Stadium Passports from all six host cities.

In the first week of sales, Canadian soccer clubs have played a big part in the support of the competition with nearly 150 groups and clubs having placed their orders for Stadium Passports or Stadium Half Passes. These clubs benefit from a cash-back incentive for club group orders while also providing the clubs with an opportunity to be involved in the competition’s youth programme.

“We want to keep the challenge moving forward to sell out Lansdowne Stadium here in Ottawa as well as in all other venues for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™,” said Paul Dobson, President of the Eastern Ontario District Soccer Association which represents 46,000 recreational and competitive soccer players. “We are pleased that our clubs have embraced the opportunity to see the best players in the world at next year’s competition.”

The first phase of ticket sales for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ runs 10 September through 5 December 2014, all in advance of the Official Draw. A second phase also featuring Stadium Passports and Stadium Half Passes will commence on 6 December after the Official Draw when the schedule and venues become known for all 24 participating nations,

The third phase featuring individual tickets will launch in the first quarter of 2015 while the fourth phase featuring on-site ticketing box offices will launch in the month before the competition kicks off on 6 June 2015.
