Chelsea P-P Liverpool (waterlogged pitch)
Manchester City 2-0 Arsenal (Att: 1,914)
FA WSL 2
Durham 2-0 London Bees (Att: 307)

Fara Williams hit the post for Arsenal from a 10th-minute free-kick but a couple of minutes later the Gunners were down to ten as Gemma Rose was sent off for a foul on Jane Ross, who has put clear by an inch-perfect Lucy Bronze ball.

Demi Stokes saw her powerful effort well turned away by Sari van Veenedaal and the visiting keeper also did well to keep out Nikita Parris’s close-range strike early in the second half.

The deadlock was broken midway through the half when Toni Duggan blocked Leah Williamson’s clearance and crossed for Ross to head firmly into the far corner of the net.

Van Veenendaal then made a one-handed save in a full length dive to deny Kosovare Asllani.

With 11 minutes to go, a penalty was given for Dominique Janssen’s foul on Parris which was fractionally outside the box and Duggan’s spot kick went in off the post, as City made it two wins from two games.

Durham made it back to back wins without conceding a goal, as they defeated London Bees in the noon kick-off.

Nicki Gears hit the post for the hosts just seconds in but set up the opener on 36 minutes for Jordan Atkinson to finish well.

Helen Alderson had to catch an acrobatic effort from the Bees’ Emma Beckett just after the hour mark as the visitors pushed forward.

But the game was put out of their reach on 73 minutes, with a clearance from Sophie Harris gifting Beth Hepple possession and she fired home from 30 yards.
