Glasgow City recorded a fifth straight win but not without some resistence at Forfar. Fiona Brown’s early goal was cancelled out by Nicola Davidson the hosts before Nicola Docherty restored the led in time for the interval. Brown then got her second but Forfar did likewise through Tori Sousa, with Sarah Crilly then completing the scoring for the reigning champions.
In the battle of second against third, Hibernian edged Celtic by the odd goal in five. Lizzie Arnot, Kirsty Smith and Abi Harrison all scored for Hibs in the first 32 minutes, with Kelly Clark replying direct from a free kick and Kerry Montgomery getting a second for the Hoops to set up a tense last half-hour.
Rangers moved above Celtic into third after defeating Aberdeen. Rhondda Jones’ opener for the Gers brought a reply midway through the second half from Cheryl Anderson but Lisa Swanson grabbed an 86th-minute winner.
Spartans rose to fourth with a 3-1 victory over Stirling University. Alana Marshall converted from the spot and Michelle Russell made it 2-0 by the break. Lisa Sutherland got the students back in the game only for a team-mate to then be sent off. Russell made sure of the points late on, following up a save from Louise Mason’s effort.
Hearts are the new SWPL 2 leaders after beating hosts Hamilton in the top of the table clash. Ashley Carse scored either side of a penalty by Rachel Walkingshaw which had been won by Lynsay Miller. Mhari Lyle gave the Accies hope at 2-1 but they suffered their first loss of points.
Glasgow Girls are up to third thanks to a 2-1 win against Inverness, despite City scoring first. Lauren Coleman and new signing Maxine Fury turned the game around in the first 8 minutes of the second half.
Jeanfield Swifts loved level on points with Buchan after thrashing them 7-2. Danni McGinley got a four-goal haul, Eilidh MacIntyre a double and Donna Shaw a penalty, following a red card for the visitors close to half time.
Hutchison Vale won at basement side Queens Park to climb into fourth position. Fiona Boslem was first to hit the net for Hutchie, Hanson then winning it with 4 minutes left..
