The SWF say that the anthem promotes equality for all and aims to inspire both men and women to realise the value of female empowerment, both now and in the future.
The song was performed live by Sharon at Classic Grand in Glasgow on the 6th of April, accompanied by the Scotland Women’s National Squad. At the venue, the squad were taught the lyrics and performed the song with Sharon on stage.
Speaking at the Classic Grand, Scotland and Glasgow City player Jo Love said, “It’s something a bit different for us to do… The words are really inspiring and Sharon has obviously put a lot of time and effort into it.”
Scotland’s most capped women’s player and Glasgow City goalkeeper, Gemma Fay echoed the thoughts of her teammate, saying, “I think it’s a fantastic song and it works as a package of things we’re doing to try and inspire girls in this country to be the best that they can be. To dream.”
When asked about the feeling of having her song as the anthem for Scottish Women’s Football, Sharon said, “I’m very proud. I played women’s football myself and it’s meant a lot to me in my life.
“For the song itself, I wanted to make it entirely honorary to the girls because they deserve public support. With football being the number one sport in Scotland, women should get the same support the guys do.
