Birmingham City Sign Hegerberg

Birmingham City say the 23-year-old is considered to be one of the rising stars in European football and has also already graced some of the top clubs in Europe, after moving to Potsdam in 2013 and then onto Kopparbergs/Gothenberg where she has impressed in central midfield for the past two seasons.

Internationally, Hegerberg has made two senior appearances for the national side after making her senior debut at just 18 against Sweden in 2012. She will be looking to Euro 2017 to cement her further growing reputation.

Blues manager David Parker said: “Signing Andrine is another wonderful addition to the club and FAWSL. Her stature in the game is already up there with the most promising players in Europe and we want to help her achieve the status and level she is capable of reaching, as one of the best players in Europe. She will add a different dynamic to the group and give us a greater attacking threat from midfield. I know for certain she is going to be a fan favorite at the club with her ability and personality on the pitch.

On her move to Birmingham Hegerberg had this to say: “I’m delighted to be joining Birmingham, one of the big clubs in British women’s football. I’ve had 3 good years in Gothenburg but I felt the time was ready for me to take on a new challenge and now I can’t wait to get stuck in with Birmingham FC.

“I’ve had good talks with David & Marcus and they’ve made me feel very welcome. Their ideas on how to move the club forward made the transfer a very attractive one for me. I’m extremely impressed with the clubs presentation of itself that clearly shows the ambition to be a leading club in domestic football as well as to participate in European football. I feel confident that I have a lot to contribute to the team’s future development.”

The transfer is subject to International Clearance
