The current round of women’s international games included 1-0 wins for France, Italy, Jamaica, Sweden and the USA.
France were 1-0 winners over Germany, thanks to a Kenza Dali effort just after the half-hour.
Italy edged the Netherlands 1-0, Cristiana Girelli the scorer after 14 minutes.
Sweden had a similar result against Norway, Stina Blackstenius with the only goal midway through the second half.
Denmark struck three times in a ten-minute first-half spell in a 3-2 victory 0ver Australia, aided by two own-goals. Tameka Yallop and goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold could only help the ball over their own goal-line, while Rikke Sevecke netted in-between. The Matildas hit back twice in the dying minutes, as Mary Fowler and Clare Polkinghorne made the score-line much tighter. The match brought a 100th cap for Matildas’ captain, Emily van Egmond.
Nigeria were beaten 1-0 by Jamaica, whose Deneisha Blackwood netted despite earlier having a penalty saved by Tochukwu Oluehi.
Spain’s Mariona Caldentey opened the scoring against Belgium a couple of minutes short of the interval. Alexia Putellas put away a spot-kick and Aitana Bonmati curled the ball home for a 3-0 result.
USA needed a 76th-minute Sam Mewis goal from a Christen Press corner to defeat Portugal 1-0.
Japan scored four times in each half to thrash Ukraine 8-0, new Arsenal signing Mana Iwabuchi bagging a brace.
