Saturday’s women’s internationals saw Chile win an Olympics play-off, USA level late on in Sweden and Germany thrash Australia.

Chile claimed a 2-1 ‘away’ win in their Olympics South America/Africa qualifying Play-Off 1st Leg over Cameroon. Played in Turkey, central defenders Camila Saez and Carla Guerrero gave Chile a 2-0 lead, but Ajara Nchout Njoya pulled a goal back when Christiane Endler was eventually beaten.

A Lina Hurtig header from a corner kick by Kosovare Asllani gave Sweden an interval lead over the USA.  With three minutes remaining, Kelly O’Hara was brought down by Sofia Jakobsson and Megan Rapinoe converted the resulting penalty, thereby extending the USA’s undefeated run to 38 games.

Carli Lloyd chalked up her 300th cap, becoming the third player – female or male – to reach the milestone, behind fellow Americans Kristine Lilly (354) and Christie Pearce Rampone (311).
