Highlights from the Women’s Regional Leagues on 18 October included a five-minute hat-trick and a five-goal second-half comeback.
EASTERN – Bowers beat leaders
PREMIER – Peterborough Northern Star won 1-0 away at St Ives Town in midweek to leapfrog them into second place. Sunday then saw Bowers & Pitsea send leaders Wymondham Town to a 1-0 defeat, while Wroxham won 5-2 against Haringey Borough.
1 NORTH – The top two both won, Cambridge City Development 3-2 over Haverhill Rovers, Kings Lynn Town 2-0 at home t0 Histon.
1 SOUTH – Millwall Lionesses were held 1-1 at home by East Bergholt United, Jessica Quinsee scoring for the visitors.
EAST MIDLANDS – Posh pip Millers 5-4
PREMIER – Mansfield Town are new leaders on goal-difference, following their 4-0 defeat of Loughborough Students. Peterborough United went second after winning a nine-goal thriller with Rotherham United, despite Natalie Shaw scoring four for the Millers. Ollerton Town put four past Kettering Town as Shoniqua Barnes struck a late treble, Oughtibridge WM hit Woodlands for six. Millie Kenyon and Codi Melia both with hat-tricks.
1 NORTH – Chesterfield’s 2-1 win over Grimsby Borough kept them top and Lincoln Moorlands-Railway rose to second with a 3-1 victory at SJR Worksop. Lincoln United also won on the road, 3-1 at Sleaford Town, Sherwood’s first points came 4-3 versus Notts County Development.
1 SOUTH – Notts County dropped their first points when held 2-2 at home by Derby County Academy, Ilkeston Town got all three goals at AFC Leicester, Loughborough Foxes Vixens got off the mark with a Hayley Walden goal at Thrapston Town.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Barton bags late winner for Bay
PREMIER – Ellie Searle and substitute Amelia Cutler both bagged a brace as QPR clinched their first points 4-2 against Aylesford.
1 NORTH – Phoenix Sports drew 1-1 at Victoire despite a red card for Hannah Corlett, Emily Lyons on target for the visitors.
1 SOUTH – Herne Bay moved three points clear after a 2-1 win at Parkwood Rangers, where Jemma-Louise Barton grabbed a late winner.
NORTH EAST – Five-minute hat-trick for Washington’s Abbey Howarth
PREMIER – Hartlepool United are top after winning the goal-fest at Farsley Celtic 9-3, Sheffield Wednesday’s Demi West got a double as the Owls and Redcar Town drew 2-2 for a first point each.
1 NORTH – Boro Rangers became the first to take points off Lumley with a 4-4 away draw, Chester le Street Town Development’s 7-0 sinking for Prudhoe Town featured an Amelie Pattison 17-minute hat-trick that helped put them second. Sacha Millward’s treble wasn’t enough for Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves, going down 4-3 at home to Washington whose Abbey Howarth scored three times in a five-minute spell.
1 SOUTH – Altofts had a third win from three 4-0 over Hepworth United, Wakefield Trinity won 4-1 away to Millmoor with their last two goals coming in the final three minutes. Hull United won 3-1 at York RI, Bradford Park Avenue beat Harrogate Town Development 4-1.
NORTH WEST – New restrictions limit fixtures
1 NORTH – Morecambe Reserves 2-1 result against Sir Tom Finney lifted them into pole position.
1 SOUTH – Salford City Lionesses kicked off with a 2-2 tie at Curzon Ashton.
SOUTHERN – Woodley win with second-half comeback
PREMIER – Woodley United fought back from 2-1 down at the break to win 6-2 at Newbury, Rosie Page-Smith three times on target. Ascot United walloped nine-player Warsash Wasps 10-1, Moneyfields’ Nicole Matthews netted the sole goal to defeat Winchester City Flyers.
ONE – Abingdon Town scored three goals in the first 22 minutes in winning 3-2 at New Milton Town but Southampton Women’s Reserves went top from a 7-2 score-line against Tilehurst Panthers, Fay Roberts with a treble but a red card for Kaylee Senter. The derby was drawn as Bournemouth Sports finished 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth Development.
SOUTH WEST – Marine Academy move clear
PREMIER – Marine Academy Plymouth opened up a three-point lead with a 3-1 win at Middlezoy Rovers, Wootton Bassett Town went above Bideford when beating them 4-1.
1 EASTERN – Frome Town forced themselves up three places to second with a 4-1 success at Swindon Supermarine. Lydia Britt’s treble helped Chipping Sodbury Town get going with 5-2 sinking of Swindon Spitfires.
1 NORTHERN – Cheltenham Town Development’s first win came at the fifth attempt, 2-1 against Frampton Rangers. Oldland Abbotonians and Weston Mendip both remain unbeaten after their 1-1 draw.
1 WESTERN – AFC St Austell took the points at Pen Mill, the 3-2 result sending them top. Feniton are just goal-difference behind in second after a 3-0 defeat of Plymouth Argyle Reserves.
WEST MIDLANDS – Shifnal defeat table-topping Telford
PREMIER – Leek Town still lead having beaten City of Stoke 5-0, Solihull Ladies United stay level on points after edging Stockingford A A Pavilion with Saddiqa Shan’s 72nd-minute effort. Coundon Court were 2-1 winners over Lye Town.
1 NORTH – Shifnal Town are within a point of leaders AFC Telford United are downing them 2-0. Shrewsbury Town and Tamworth are just as close, the Shrews 2-0 winners over Port Vale, the Lambs having hammered Walsall 14-0 with four apiece for Aimee Taylor and Olivia Woolston. Hollie Taylor’s early brace for Coventry City was all in vain, as hosts Sandwell hit back to win 5-2.
1 SOUTH – Solihull Sporting made it four straight wins with seven goals at Sedgley & Gornal United, three of them from Janelle Straker. Knowle netted six against Cookley Sports to rise to second spot.
