Kent kept alive their hopes of winning the Southern Counties League after they stunned Middlesex with a 20-minute second half blitz.
The hosts may well have added to their lead after the interval but for a couple of crucial saves by Katie Startup but it was Kent who were to score next on 65 minutes, as Fliss Gibbons set up Amy Russ to finish from close range.
Russ returned the compliment with 12 minutes left, winning possession to send Gibbons clear and slot the ball past the keeper.
Moments later Kent were level, Russ delievering the corner from which Dani Ritson’s header was blocked before Lydia Wills smashed the ball home.
With 5 minutes to go, Kent completed the turnaround when Russ played in Gibbons to go round the keeper and finish from a tight angle and spark wild celebrations.
Kent FA Representative Team manager Cori Daniels was full of praise of her side afterwards saying: “Unbelievable second half performance from the girls tonight, they all showed desire, commitment and a relentless determination for the County badge, showing a winning mentality.”
Kent’s next game is at home to Hertfordshire on Wednesday 25th January at Corinthian FC in the East Anglian Counties league before travelling to The Army FA a week later in the final Southern Counties league match.
