Seagulls Swoop For Chelsea Duo

Brighton & Hove Albion interim women’s manager George Parris has continued his squad strengthening ahead of the WSL spring series, with the addition of Northern Ireland international Laura Rafferty and England U-19 midfielder Jenna Legg.

Both have joined from WSL side Chelsea, where the pair graduated via the Blues’ youth set up. Defender Rafferty already has 12 senior international caps at the age of 20; 19-year-old Legg has been capped seven times by England at under-19 level.

Parris said, “We are really pleased to have added two very bright young talents to our squad. Both players have great experience at international level and will add to the squad we already have in place here.

“Laura is an excellent defender, with great experience at senior international level; Jenna too has played for England from U-15 upwards. They both have great futures ahead of them and will play a significant role for us in the spring series.”

Parris has already added Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Emma Byrne and England U-17 striker Alessia Russo.

Albion’s first game of the new season is at AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the FA Women’s Cup on Sunday 5th February, followed by a trip to London Bees on Saturday 11th February.

The first home game in the WSL is against Oxford United on Sunday 26th February, at the Sussex County FA HQ, Culver Road, and season tickets are available now from just £20 for adults and £10 for children.

All bar one of B&HAWFC’s home games will be played at Culver Road. Their final home game of the Spring Series will be at the American Express Community Stadium, against Sheffield on Sunday 21st May.
