Suffolk beat Kent 2-1 in last year’s final for their third Fred Welham Cup win but a first in ten years last season.
Suffolk currently lead the table with six points following two wins but they will be overtaken by their hosts, should Kent win at Chatham Town FC tonight and then also defeat Hertfordshire in their last match.
The Suffolk FA say that Chris Smith will be in charge of the Suffolk side, as Emma Manning is not able to continue in her role as manager following her appointment by The FA as the Women’s Talent Technical Coach for the East Region.
Smith, who has been coach for the past two seasons, will be assisted by Suffolk FA Representative Team Co-ordinator Darryn Marsh.
Marsh told suffolkfa.com: “We need to gain a point which always poses its own dilemmas and will be coming up against what will be a very strong Kent side who may be looking for revenge after being involved in a similar scenario last season.
“It is building up to be a fascinating encounter. With our form in this season’s competition and quality of Natasha Thomas up top we will go into the game with a lot of confidence.”
Suffolk skipper Paige Shorten added: “All of the girls are really looking forward to representing Suffolk FA for the final fixture of the 2016-17 season.
“As a squad we have been in a very good position over the past season and hope to continue the winning streak against Kent FA.”
