West Ham United Women have signed goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan from Le Havre and four-time Bundesliga winner Katharina Baunach from VfL Wolfsburg.

“I’m really excited to join West Ham United,” Brosnan told whufc.com. “It has always been a dream of mine, since I was young, to play in England. It’s really exciting to now achieve that goal and getting the chance to be a part of everything that we can accomplish at West Ham.”

Manager Matt Beard said: “In signing Courtney, I believe we now have two quality goalkeepers in our squad – along with Anna [Moorhouse] – who can push each other and develop into even better players throughout the campaign.”

At international level, the 23-year-old has played for Republic of Ireland U-17s and U-19s and trained with the seniors, while also receiving a call-up for the USA U-23s last year.

Defender Baunach said on her move: “You can see that the English league has grown so much and, for me, it’s the most exciting league in the world right now. It’s a new challenge that I’m ready for, and I’m so happy to be here.”

Beard added: “I’m delighted to welcome Katharina to West Ham United. In her, we have brought in a talented and experienced defender who is capable of playing in a number of roles.”

Baunach played 286 times for Bayern Munich and won two Bundesliga titles with them, before helping Wolfsburg retain the title last season.

The 30-year-old has represented Germany right through the age groups but with just a couple of senior caps.
