#ElectricIreland Cup: McGuinness treble powers Linfield through to semis

Caitlin McGuinness scored all three goals as Linfield eliminated Sion Swifts from the Electric Ireland Cup, holders Glentoran ran out 3-0 winners at Cliftonville.

Linfield, runners-up last year, progressed following a 3-1 success over Sion Swifts. Caitlin McGuinness scored just 4 minutes in and although Carldon McCarter levelled before the break, McGuinness went on to complete a hat-trick.

Four days after lifting the Danske Bank Premiership Cup, Glentoran continued their defence of the Electric Ireland trophy with a 3-0 victory at Cliftonville. Demi Vance netted a second consecutive double for the Glens after Jessie Davies opened the scoring.

The two remaining NIWFA League teams were eliminated on home turf, with Lisburn losing out to Crusaders Strikers and Ballymena United Allstars beaten by Comber Rec.

Faith Johnston, Danielle McDowell, Amy McGivern and Holly Otter shared the spoils for Strikers, while Comber reached the semi-finals for the first time with a goal apiece by Sarah McKillen, Debbie Ferguson and Olivia Brown.
