Real Madrid are to have a women’s team after yesterday agreeing to bring Club Deportivo Tacón on board.
Madrid-based CD Tacón won promotion to the Liga Iberdrola for the first time last month and will now move to the Read Madrid City training ground for the 2019-20 season.
The team will eventually change their name to Real Madrid in time for the 2020-21 campaign, the move having happened too late for the forthcoming season.
Tacón was founded in 2014 with the aim to be a completely professional team. In 2016 they merged with CD Canillas and after only three seasons in the Segunda División achieved promotion to the Spanish top flight.
