#Electricireland Cup: Comber Rec win through on penalties

Comber Rec defeated Derry City in a shoot-out to reach the quarter-finals, while Carnmoney gave Cliftonville a scare before bowing out 4-3.

Premiership newcomers Comber Rec eliminated fellow top-flight team Derry City 3-2 in a shoot-out after their tie finished goalless in 90 minutes and 1-1 after the extra half-hour, during which the hosts also scored from the spot.

A dramatic first 30 minutes saw Cliftonville lead underdogs Carnmoney 3-2 and although the Premiership side extended their lead through Leontia McVarnocks , the visitors got a third goal and were denied a fourth by the post.

Linfield led 5-0 at the interval away to Downpatrick, adding eight second-half goals and four of those in the first four minutes after the restart. Kirsty McGuinness hit a hat-trick but was outdone by sister Caitlin McGuinness who scored four.

Ballymena United Allstars were also five up at the break against Ballymacash but netted a more modest brace in the second 45.

Sion Swifts sunk Lurgan Town 6-1 with Lauren Brennan twice on target.
