BORN KICKING: Maizi Garwood (Shenfield High School)

This skipper, who once knocked out a spectator with a shot, has recently led her school team into the national ESFA U-15 Playstation Schools Cup semi-finals.

1 What is your full name and age?  Maizi Garwood, aged 14

2 What do you call your team mates on the footie field? We all call each other by our surnames

3 Who do you play for and which team do you support? I play for Essex FA Centre of Excellence and my school team, Shenfield High School. I support West Ham United (of course)

4 Are you left or right footed? Right footed

5 What is your fave position and why? My favourite position is centre back because I can see the whole pitch and I like to slide tackle

6 If you could meet a player (male or female) who would It be? David Beckham, who else!?

7 If you could play on the same team as anyone who would It be? Sir Trevor Brooking

8 What colour shirt would you MOST like to play in? I would definitely like to wear the white England strip.

9 Can you describe yourself as a footballer, in three to five words? Strong, committed, hard-tackling,

10 What is the funniest thing ever that happened to you in football? When I was playing in a futsal national tournament for school and I kicked the ball into the net at the side of the pitch so hard that it hit a lady in the side of the head and knocked her out. It wasn’t funny at the time, but when we look back, we do giggle.

11 Do you have any superstitions? I have to give my ring to my Nan before every match and she wears it on her little finger while I’m playing. Also, I always have to wear another pair of socks under my football socks.

12 What is your favorite pre-game or post-game music? All the girls are into rapping at the moment but it varies.

13 What is your favorite post-game treat? Jam sandwich

14 Who is your biggest fan? My Grandparents

15 Who are your heroes? My Grandad as he always supports me and Steph Houghton as she is so talented.

16 What is the MOST common thing you shout in a match? Come on girls
