Liverpool Feds Girls’ and Women’s FC are celebrating their 25th season this year and are looking to track down anyone who has played for, or coached at the club, for a reunion celebration on June 25th.
Sue Carmichael explains;
The club was established as a College team from what is now Liverpool Hope University and is now a Charter Standard Club with 6 junior teams and 3 open age teams.
The club started for students under the leadership of Janie Moore and quickly grew in success through successive promotions in the North West Women’s League and in size with the addition of junior teams.
The Feds photo (above) was one of the first junior club photos and we are trying to get in touch with all of the players in the picture. Some are still playing and enjoying their football for the Feds’ adults teams and there are many former Feds players from junior and adult levels who have gone on to play and manage in the WSL, or to play professionally abroad. I would fear missing someone out if I listed them, but Emma Hayes, the current Chelsea manager played for the Feds at College, Fern Whelan (now at Notts County), Paige Williams (playing in Italy), Kirstie Levell (the Everton keeper) and Zoe Tynan (at Manchester City) are just some of the players who have gone on to success beyond our club.
For 5 seasons the club incorporated the LFC girls section and players pictured (below) have gone onto success at LFC ladies, or in the International music scene (Chelcee Grimes).
The girls’ section still enjoys development and success, linked with Marshalls FC in the LCFA League and the open age section has teams playing in the FAWPL Division 1 League, the North West Regional League and the Liverpool County League.
As a self-funded grassroots club, we are proud of our achievements over the past 25 years and would love to meet up with as many of the people who have been part of that journey.
As well as league titles and trophies, we count our success on the fun that we have had and the friendships that have been established over the years. The players in the ‘original ‘ College team are still good friends, have worked hard to shape the club over the years and some are still playing and some coaching football.
