The Os have had a sterling season having won the league, secured promotion, and retained the Mayor’s Cup. They now have the perfect opportunity to celebrate at the historic Matchroom Stadium!
Leyton Orient have been enjoying a triumphant season. Having secured promotion to the FA WPL as League Champions, the Os have also retained the Mayor’s Cup in true champion’s fashion – by scoring 13 goals. There is still a chance of the treble as the team keep their eye on the League Cup final, which will take place on the 14th May against Crawley Wasps.
With one last game in the season Captain Danni Griffith’s took time to reflect on the past seasons where the side have fallen just short, “we’ve come close a few times over the years, but have never quite had the legs for it. This season, however, everything came together such that we had the perfect blend of the ingredients that make a title winning side: quality, class, fitness, experience and, most importantly, team spirit.”
League top scorer Sophie Le Marchand also added that the difference this season has been down to the team spirit as she said, “there is an abundance of talent in this team but ultimately what got us over the line was the fact that we are a team that really cares and looks out for each other.”
While Leyton Orient will still have their focus on more silverware, the team will be able to celebrate in style in their final fixture against Fulham FC Foundation – and final fixture in the London and South-East Regional Women’s Football League.
The game will take place at Matchroom Stadium, Brisbane Road. It is a significant occasion for the Os as they have battled for five years to earn their place back in the Premier League. Couple the silverware with the venue and it will be a worthy celebration before Leyton Orient prepare for the demands of the Premier League.
Kick-off is at 2pm on Sunday May 7, tickets for the game are just £3 and can be purchased from the Matchroom Stadium. To add to seeing the Champions live on Brisbane Road, each ticket comes with a raffle ticket entry.
