Ipswich Town’s new head coach is Carla Dickinson, who makes the move down the A140 from Norwich City.
The former West Ham U-16s and Witham Town Ladies manager succeeds Ralph Pruden and will take charge of her first game in a behind closed doors friendly against the Ipswich Town FA Regional U-21s on Sunday.
Ipswich Town say that Dickinson has vast experience in the women’s game, both as a player and coach. She represented West Ham United, Braintree Town and multiple American clubs – including New Jersey Wildcats – before injury cut-short her playing career.
During her time in the United States, Dickinson secured a masters in football coaching from the University Of Ohio – becoming only the fifth woman in the world to hold that degree. Carla returned to the UK shortly after, spending time with West Ham and Witham Town before taking on the role of Foundation Phase Development Officer at Colchester United and then having a spell with the Canaries.
