Champions Maidstone Aim For Treble

Goals from Lucy Harrington, Abigail Spragg and Gemma Sullivan earned the all-important three points in a 3-1 win over Barming on Sunday 12th March,

The result meant that Maidstone moved out of reach of third-placed Margate, the last side who had been able to catch them.

Head of the club’s ladies and girls section John Jackson told maidstoneunited.co.uk: “We’re absolutely delighted. This season has far exceeded our expectations and we’ve gone way beyond the targets we set.

“The players have worked incredibly hard and the campaign is far from over with two cup finals to look forward to.

“Paul and his team are under no pressure in those finals. We want them to enjoy those occasions, relax and play the great football that’s got them this far.”

MUFC chief executive Bill Williams added: “It’s their first season back after a couple of years but they hit the ground running and rightly deserve their title.”

Maidstone still have one more league game to play but next up is the Kent Reliance Women’s Plate final at the Gallagher Stadium on Sunday 26th March, kick-off at 4.30pm.
