Own-Goal Rescues Point For City
Celtic gave Glasgow City notice that they intend to push the SWPL crown holders of ten years all the way, after taking points of them in the second match of the campaign.
Natalie Ross had the Hoops in front on 17 minutes, turning in Sarah Ewens’ cross and it wasn’t until the second period that City really came to life.
Megan Cunningham tipped a Savannah Jordan shot wide and also kept out a Leanne Ross free-kick but the resulting corner on 70 minutes went in off the unfortunate Kerry Montgomery.
Keeva Keenan and Megan Foley nearly won it for City late on but both sides had to settle for the draw.
Hundred Percent Hibs Hit Top Spot
Hibernian are the only side with a 100% record two games in and the 6-0 win over Aberdeen therefore took them top.
There was only a Rachel Small goal in it at the halfway point but seconds after the restart, Abi Harrison and Amy Gallacher combined well to set up Lizzie Arnot, whose shot deflected in off a Dons’ defender.
Gallacher was the provider for Katey Turner’s goal in the last 15 minutes, before lobbing in the fifth herself, afterwhich Arnot completed her hat-trick.

Stirling Off The Mark In Eight-Goal Drama
Rangers went down 5-3 to Stirling University but it might have been worse, as they trailed 2-0 and were a player down after only 17 minutes.
Lauren Gallon opened the scoring from Becky McKay’s delivery and Nicole Pullar doubled the lead, with Gers’ Clare Gemmell then being sent off.
However, Rangers quickly pulled one back through Hannah Robertson and Claire Adams then played her in to level on 33 minutes.
Stirling regained the lead after the break through a Katy Morris header and Rebecca Galbraith’s goal gave them back a two-goal cushion.
Adams converted a late penalty for Rangers’ third goal but Pullar’s second for the students sealed their first points of the season.
Spartans Win Away At Accies
Spartans are fourth in the table after a late goal gave them all three points in the late kick-off at Hamilton’s New Douglas Park.
They had the ball in the net just after the hour mark when Colette Cavanagh’s strike was followed up by Carla Boyce but it was deemed offside.
Down to the last dozen minutes and Spartans got their goal from a Simone McMahon corner.
Forfar, Hearts and Glasgow Girls Win Again
Forfar Farmington lead SWPL2 after the second round of matches, with their latest success a 2-1 win at Jeanfield Swifts. Laura Parsley’s goal was cancelled out by the Swifts on 67 minutes but Cheryl Kilcoyne hit a 25-yard winner with 4 minutes left.
Hearts got the only goal at East Fife through Stacey Hutchinson in the first half and are second on goal-difference, also still with perfect form.
Glasgow Girls are the third side to have won both their first couple of league games, yesterday defeating Motherwell 2-1. The hosts’ Lauren Coleman and Kirsty McDonald scored in a six-minute spell in the latter stages of the match.
Buchan banked their first points in a dramatic 2-1 defeat of Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale. Fiona Boslem fired Vale ahead with 15 minutes to go, only for Buchan to reply late on and then take maximum points with an injury-time penalty.
