Second-Year Success For Stokey

The Hackney-based team needed a point from their last match at home to Hampstead Development on 12th March to be sure of the title but as it was, Larkspur Rovers’ challenge faltered in a 3-3 tie at Alexandra Park, despite an Ocean Gregory hat-trick.

All the same, the leaders did what they could to be certain of success, recording a 3-1 victory against the only side to have beaten them this season – and that was just a fortnight beforehand. A goal each from Ciara Monahan, Alice Nutman and Stedrika Perkins put them out of reach at the top of the table.

The club’s coach and founder, Ian Bruce, who was earlier this year named Coach of the Year at the Hackney Sports Awards, told the Hacnkey Gazette: “I’m very proud of the team and their incredible achievement this year. They really deserve their success as they have worked so hard week after week.

“We are still in the quarter-finals of the cup so fingers crossed we can add another trophy to our collection after winning the league and FA People’s Cup (North London) a couple of weeks ago.”
