Leicester City WFC had to come from behind after a missed penalty to edge West Brom 3-2 at Quorn FC, while Chorley moved four points clear of danger with a 3-1 defeat of Newcastle United.
Leicester City WFC went within two points of FA WPL Northern Division leaders Middlesbrough with a 3-2 Wednesday evening win over West Bromwich Albion.
The Foxes’ Rosie Axten had an 11th-minute penalty saved by Vanessa Kinnerley and Albion went ahead in the 35th minute when Leanne Mitchell rounded the keeper to slot home.
It was into the last 20 minutes before Sophie Domingo brought Leicester level, with substitute Moriah McIntosh then putting them ahead on 80 minutes.
Axten made it 3-1 in the last minute, with West Brom respond straight away with their second goal.
The Baggies remain four points above the drop zone but having played four more games than eleventh-placed Gusieley Vixens.

Chorley climbed into eighth spot in Northern Division 1, above Newcastle on goal-difference. Their 3-1 defeat of United was watched by a crowd of 100 at Victory Park, where Scarlett Smith scored one and made another for the home side.
The hosts were ahead after only 7 minutes but Megan McKenzie made it 1-1 halfway through the first period.
Chorley were back in front before the break and went on to seal the points with a third goal
Milton Keynes Dons match with Stevenage in South East Division 1 was postponed.
There’s more Northern Division action today (Thursday), as Fylde face local rivals and title favourites Blackburn Rovers at Mill Farm (7.45 kick off), while Derby County welcome relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers to Mickleover Sports for an 8pm start.
