Cardiff Met Win Welsh Cup Final Shoot-Out

Cardiff Met were gifted an early lead when Swansea keeper, Courtney Young spilled a back pass over her own line in the 15th minute.

It looked like a Cardiff Met win until Swansea’s Katy Hosford found the net from 30 yards in the penultimate minute.

Both teams’ initial penalties were missed before a series of converted efforts culminated in Rebecca Mathias putting Met 5-4 up. Then Yzzy Taylor made a diving save to keep out Stacey Webber’s spot-kick and the student side could start their celebrations.

Meanwhile in the Orchard Welsh Premier League basement battle, Briton Ferry Llansawel and Rhyl ended goalless to leave the former still four points adrift.

Llandudno defeated Aberystwyth Town 2-0 in an evening kick-off and Port Talbot Town went seventh with a 3-2 victory over Cyncoed. The visitors twice took the lead through Grace SHorrell and Fern Burrage only for Vickie Stratton and Jesci Hare to reply, before Samantha Morgan hit the winner.
