Friday 28th April
FA WSL 1
Liverpool 4-2 Reading (Att: 466)
Five of the six goals came in the first half and there was a lively start as Natasha Harding put Liverpool ahead seconds in, with Brooke Chaplen swiftly equalising.
Sophie Ingle then kept out a volley from Chaplen but Melissa Fletcher had the Royals 2-0 with just 7 minutes played.
The Reds were back on level terms in the 24th minute as Harding raced onto a pass from Niamh Charles and hit a low drive into the far corner.
Alex Greenwood then played an important part at either end, first blocking an effort from Lauren Bruton and then crossed for Caroline Weir to fire the posts back in front.
Katie Zelem blocked Remi Allen’s strike following a Reading set piece and the visitors piled on the pressure but were unable to find a third goal by the break.
Rachel Furness fired wide with a free-kick for the Royals and the second half was only 4 minutes old when Laura Coombs arrived at the back post to tap Harding’s cross into the back of the net.
Siobhan Chamberlain did well to save Fletcher’s shot after the ball had ricocheted around the Reds box, while Zelem had a long-range effort late on that narrowly cleared the crossbar.
