A 3-0 victory away at Oughtibridge War Memorial on 30th April saw Barnsley (pictured top) win the North East League by goal-difference only.
It was quite a large margin though, theirs being 33 better than Norton & Stockton Ancients, who had hoped to be sealing a swift return to the Premier League.
But they missed their chance by going down 3-0 at Castleford White Rose the previous Sunday, while Brittany Sanderson, Rebecca Fevers and Kathyrn Smith scored once each to send the Tykes up.
Barnsley FC Ladies will be going for the double on 21st May, when they meet Wallsend BC in the League Cup Final at Wilberfoss Sports & Social in York, kick-off 1pm.

Sheffield United were meanwhile securing the championship of the East Midlands League with two games to spare, ahead of Bedworth United.
Their challengers began Sunday three points behind them and had to wait until next week to play their final game.
So the way was clear for the Blades to take the title by just avoiding defeat at basement side Ruddington Village.
That they did successfully with a 6-1 victory, although Kelly Clayton had halved the deficit for the hosts after Alexandra Hickerman and Tania Marsden put Sheffield two up in 20 minutes.
Jennifer Pearson, Natalie Froggatt and Kimberley Brown then all added one each as United clinched the Premier Division honours.
